Resolved Adding Mailbox to Outlook using Microsoft Exchange server in Winodws XP Home Edition

    Hi again,

I have a Windows XP Home edition at my home and Windows 2000 at work. I recently set up a VPN in my home PC to access the internal pages of my office at home. Now I want to see my mails at home that are delivered to office Mailbox.

I want to add Microsoft Exchange server ROC04... and Mailbox "xxx.xxxx" to my home PC. but when I go for the properties of Outlook, I could only see General and Shortcut tabs as opposed to Services, Addresses and delivery tabs in my Ofiice PC.
As far as I know to add a Mailbox to Outlook I should goto Properties of Outlook. Select service tab, select Microsoft Excange Server->properties and in the Advance tab add the Mailbox. But, I couldnot see any of these options while I was trying to add the mailbox. Please advise.

Is it something to do with the XP Home edition, or my home PC doesnot have Microsoft Exchange server on it?

    Please help me,

    Thanks,
    Nubee

Which version of Outlook are you using?

In Outlook 2003 (I suppose older versions also) run Outlook and in the Tools Menu, look for something like Email Accounts... and add your account there.
I use Microsoft Visual Basic 2005. (Therefore, most code samples I provide will be based around the .NET Framework v2.0, unless otherwise specified)

If the VPN is direct to a server, then you should already be authenticated. If the VPN is simply to a router, then you'll need to manually authenticate yourself with a server before you can check mail.

    Thanks for responding.
I just checked the version of my Office and its Microsoft office 2000 Premium.
I went to the controlPanel and clicked for the mail option. I got a window named Internet accounts with only one tab "Mail" and options Add, Import and Close. Remove, Properties, Set As Default, and Exportr being disabled.
When i clicked Add a window named Internet Connection Wizard is opeening and asking me to enter
the display name -> after this I entered the email address- > then it asked to enter incoming and outgoing email servers where I could only select Pop3 or IMAP for Incoming and SMTP for Outgoing email. I didnot see any exchange server. what should I do?

I have microsoft outllok 2000 version 9.0.0.2711 and there is one ore outlook called Outllok Express from Startr-> Programs->Outlook Express . It is Outlook Express 6 version 6.00.2600.0000(xpclient.010817-1148).

And I have a DSL connection to my PC. When I was looking through the Outlook express . toos-> Accounts, there ar e 4 tabs, "All, Mail, News, Directory Services". When I hit Mail tab there was an account already setup as default by sbcglobal.net. When I checked properties for that account ,

    Incoming Mialop.sbcglobal.yahoo.com
    Outgoing Mail: smtp.sbcglobal.yahoo.com

    plenderj,
I am not sure about that. As far as I know, I can access the internal sites from the home PC. And also I can also enter my username and password to get into few internal sites and still get authenticated.

as I recall, Outlook 2000 can be installed in one of two ways. One for Exchange Servers, and one for smtp servers. I've accidently used Exchange in the past, and it caused problems. Run the setup program to change it.
