    Upgrading to a Faster Computer

    Hello,
I think I already posted on a subject like this, but I had a thought. OK, so first of all I have a 1.8GHz Intel P4 Processor, 512MB SDRAM, GeForce 4 MX 440 Graphics Card, and the motherboard I'll tell you later. I don't have it at the moment.

At first, either on another forum or this one, I was told it was my graphics card. I was thinking the SDRAM might have stopped my machine from being faster. If not, will a GeForce FX 5500 "Overclocked" 256MB DDR AGP 8x/4x graphics card by NVidia allow me to play games like World of Warcraft (this is a must) very good with most of the high settings turned up? Now obviously, I expect some "lag" either without the new card or with my normal setting.

I was in a rush, so sorry for not tons of information.
    Thanks,
    Alacritous

Your system is pretty decent except for the graphics card. A Geforce 4 MX performs on par with a Geforce 2, which is quite behind the times. A Geforce 5500 would be quite an upgrade for you and you'd be able to play warcraft as well as several other higher end games like Doom 3. I say get a decent graphics card, then wait a while before you upgrade the CPU/Motherboard/Ram.

Now the question is this: is the graphics card good?

I have no idea, heh. I've been searching google, but havn't found any reviews or anything like that. Another question is: is it compatible? I don't have a PCI Express motherboard, and some graphics will run with the PCI Express and the normal, but other will run only with the PCI Express. I'm looking at a specification of the product right now, but...

Anyone? I just have no clue to if this is a good card or not. Heh, sorry it's just that I'm thinking of buying it today.*

*There is a special deal... The card is normally $150, but you can get the card and a $50 game for $130. I don't think this deal will last a while because it's a combined deal that is specific, not like the card and any game below $50.

try it and see. see if they will exchange it or refund your money.
as long as it works in the computer, then you should be allright.
read the box, and ask them if you could open it to read the specs.
