    server does not exist/access denied

    hello all

i am trying to learn how to construct a database, in doing so
i get the message server does not exist or access denied, i am
just trying to get started here
i have highlighted the SQLserver johnxp registered it withsame(it is the computer name) name but it appears with a red X through it in the sever explorer window and will not let me connect as sql server, i have gone into control panel and check for IIs and default web site which are installed and running, does some body have the patience to post the step by step procedure from open new project (start page) to creatition of a new form

i also get errors when trying to use a ASP.net application form
    (the same type)

    thanks john

Please use fullstops when typing sentences. I was out of breath by the time I finished reading your post.

Is SQL Server installed locally? If not, can you check connectivity with it?

What code are you using to connect to it?

    hello mendhak

i remember now when i originaly installed vb .net. somewhwere there was a prompt telling/asking me to install certain prerequistes or i would not be able to do/use (something)??
i am thinking now they were related to exactly what i am now trying to do. so now the question is can i go back, run the prerequsites disk and install all the files that i lack without lossing anything that i now am working on ?? thanks john
