Whenever I log into my PC at work this beastie pops up...

That'll be the sandpaper trojan. It waits for Mendhak to come online and then sends you sick pictures of his family and forces you to watch his home movies

That's spam or crap or a proprietary app.
Take a look in regedit under:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
and
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunServices

List what's in there. Also when that pops up try CTRL+ALT+DEL and look at the list of processes. If you're using Windows XP, look down the list under the CPU column and look at anything that's taking up cpu time... see if some strange app listed there...
