    Opinions on this PC, please!

This PC is for my dad, so nothing super high end is required. I'd like your opnion on whether it's good enough, if anything's missing, if anything can be done away with, stuff like that.

I had to make it an image, for some reason I couldn't copy-paste from the DOC file.

Sounds about right price - prolly forget the internal modem unless he's still on dial up/requires fax?

Missing firewall proggy? or you have a box for that?

I would not get Works, and get Office instead. Eventually, when you want to port something, you can't. I got really stuck a few years (or more) ago because of that.

    No dialup. DSL will do.

    I'll get Zone Alarm.

No probs there, I've purchased Office XP already for this.

I'll talk to him about the flat panel monitor...

As for these other programs, I'll remove them when I visit him later this year, we already have a bunch of proggies we can still use there.

Btw, I think I've forgotten to get him a Network card, I don't see it on the list.

    That's a great PC, I'd say it's fine.
I use Microsoft Visual Basic 2005. (Therefore, most code samples I provide will be based around the .NET Framework v2.0, unless otherwise specified)

I notice you didn't go for the Sandpaper Mousemat option. Improves optical mouse performance by up to 0%.

I've gotten a deal with Dell, ("under the desk") for a Sandpaper™ Pensi extension full of Schitt-Hugly avocados.
