Putting a JPG in a post and "linking" back to it
I thought it was possible to attach a JPG to a post and then use the IMG button to "link" to that THREAD post...
That way you get a picture in the post.
I tried that in a post today and it isn't working...

Dynamic images have been turned off for a while now. I forget why exactly, but I'm pretty sure it was your fault.

John, are you sure?
It seems to work for me fine. All you need to do is attach the image and then edit the post using the img tag. Is that how you are doing it szlamany?
Edit :
Just tested it here to confirm : http://www.vbforums.com/showthread.p...30#post1814930

I might have been, but you had to go and **** that all up, didn't you?
I could have sworn that they were all turned off at some point, but maybe that was just in signatures. I always keep images off anyway.

And what do you put in the IMAGE tag - I thought I was putting the "link" to the thread...
I called up the thread and cut/paste the link from the ADDRESS bar - put that back into the post...

1. First Attach the Image and Post your thread.
2. Go to the newly created thread, right click on the attachment and select Copy Shortcut/Link.
3. Click on the Edit Post button
4. Now press the IMG button and paste the link or
type img tag and past the link between the img tag.
You are done

No problem, you ware welcome.
Note that if you are attaching BMP browser(IE might) might not embed the image. Jpgeg, jpg and Gifs are no problem.
If you referred BMP as just a term for Image then ignore my comment.
Danial.

I think they are just turned of if you are linking to a picture on an other site. But as long as you download that picture and uploads it here to VBF and then use the [ img] tags then you are fine...

The file I posted (attached) was a JPG (look at my first post)...
I accidentally referred to it as a BMP in a later post...
Actually, the first JPG was at high-color, 24 bit and was like 1.5 meg - that failed and the whole post just disappeared.
I had to re-save the JPG with a much lower resolution and post a second time...

Dynamic images were disabled for a day or two, if that, it was cos a couple of members mis-used them. But it was turned back on with the warning that if it happens again it will be turned off permently.

Without identifing the member(s), could you describe the mis-use
so we know what not to do. Although I'm sure its just common
sense guidelines.

Somebody was settings cookies through an image, if I can pretend to remember correctly, and it caused a stir of some sort.
People were called names, pets were threatened, and then we all twirled in a big circle to get over it.
Laugh, and the world laughs with you. Cry, and you just water down your vodka.

I wasn't a moderator then so didn't know the ins & outs but I'd thought it was a little different actually but the thing I thought it was I wouldn't like to say because the ways it can be miss used I wouldnt like to be caught out by.

Uh... What?
PS: Shouldn't BMPs be supported too? I hate having to download BMPs whenever someone attaches them.

I'm talking about just the links, not the image, which even IE sees.
