    some mp3 files wont play:(

I dont understand whta's wrong. A lof of "legal" mp3 files that I'm downloading wont play in winamp/media player, nor iTunes.... At first I thought maybe the files are corrupt but I dont think so, because it's happening with about 1 out of every 10 file
(If I load the mp3 file in winamp, it just doesnt do anything. it cant even get the file information)

I know this happens with video files where you can be missing a codec, but with mp3, could I be missing a codec also? how would I know what codec I need to download?

I had a similar problem in regards to getting the files to even play. In my case, I could right-click on the file even.....the computer would give me some error, I forget. Anyways, apparantly the computer was misreading how I wanted to play the file, somewhere in the registry. Instead of screwing with the registry, I just downloaded windows media player 10 and everything works perfectly. I know you said you use winamp, but my point is try to reinstall or if you're not using the latest version, then upgrade. Good luck!!!

    Thanks.
