Wireless B or G networking?{resolved}
I was wondering if anybody could give me there opinion on whether I should buy a wireless B or wireless G router. I know that the G is faster but I have heard that it might interfere with cordless phones and stuff like that. Is it worth it to pay the extra money and get wireless G or just go with wireless B.

G

Its not that much of a difference in price.
Faster speed
Has multiple channels that you could use if there is any interference (11 channels).
Interference has only been known on a very limited range of manufacturers products.
Backwards compatible.
Speed Booster available on G versions only (so its 35% faster in certain stituations)
I have a Linksys wireless 4 port router (WRT54G). I have three cordless
phones and no problems at all.

definately g. for all those reasons and i think that b is gonna start fading out soon...
I'm having a problem here. Do I put the serial number in the box that says 'serial number,' or do I put it in the box that says 'company'? - Oh, those poor tech support people

i have B, but my laptop has G. I thought my Linksys was G, but when I switched, nothing worked. Maybe they use the same interface for both? or maybe you need a different key?

Your router could be set for G only mode.
System_error: if you get the chance, you might want to buy an 802.11a/b/g enabled device instead.

Yes definatly g, or if you are worried, you can get b/g devices too.
I use Microsoft Visual Basic 2005. (Therefore, most code samples I provide will be based around the .NET Framework v2.0, unless otherwise specified)

This is what I am using for my router/wap - WRT54G.
Its G, but can connect B devices too. Not expensive at all and I
haven't had any interference issues.
Here is a comparison between A/G/B Standards.

mines a few years old, so I don't expect G from it. I've seen it for around $50 here. The new ones are about $80.

Definitely G. I looked at the links you posted and it seemed the best to me. Also I'll probably get the WRT54G you said that you had since it supports B and G and is not expensive.
Again thank you.

Good choice. I see it going for about $79 at Best Buy (audio/video/computer
store chain). I'm sure you could find it for a little less somewhere
else. Yes, it supports B & G.
Later.

Stuck in the 80s
I'll just throw in that I have the WRT54G as well, and have had no problems with it at all. I'm really pleased with it, especially after the problems I had with D-Link routers.
