    Resolved internet connection failure [resolved]

I recently reformatted my HD and installed XP Pro. Since, I've been having trouble with my internet connection. The strangest thing happens.. after about 30-40 minutes (since starting up my computer), I lose the ability to surf the web (through both IE and Opera), I also lose other things, like the ability to share my music on iTunes. BUT, AIM works for me, all the time. I never have trouble with it. I checked my connections and they all seem good. If anyone can help, I would greatly appreciate it.

    Thanks!

yes. aim still works fine. i can send and receive messages with no delay of any sort. i'm hooked up via ethernet and wireless. running service pack 1 if that matters. even when i lose my connection, i check the status of my network connections and both are connected, but i can't load any pages.

do an ipconfig to make sure that you have a valid IP address. maybe there is a conflict with one of the connections...

nothing helps. i have a valid ip, and i even renew it. this doesn't help either.

Try installing Windows XP Service Pack 2 and see if that helps (Even though you should have it anyway )
I use Microsoft Visual Basic 2005. (Therefore, most code samples I provide will be based around the .NET Framework v2.0, unless otherwise specified)

SP2 works best if you stop everything else from running. If you don't, then you may have problems.

I am not going to mess with SP2. I have done so before, and it didn't help. Fixing the drivers and everything didn't help, so instead of messing with the windows updates (my last resort), i reinstalled XP. That seems to have worked. Thanks!

If you just installed XP, that's the best time to install XPSP2 .

if you want sp2, do a custom install, and make sure that you install all OTHER updates before you install SP2. There are some things that don't get updated. This is what caused me problems.
Update as many things as you can before SP2.

Maybe you installed it if you went to Windows Update and installed the updates.

Have you tried the Network Installation redistributable?
