    different internet connection problem

Alright, I have a router....2 comps are connected to it. The router is getting a direct connection from a cable modem.

It is set up for Dynamic IP, which is what Shaw Uses...
I have nothing else set...Just the basics that it needed to get it going, none of the advanced stuff like port routing.

Every 10 minutes or so I just loose all internet...but I can still acquire an IP address, for a period of time, then I can't do that either after a few more minutes...

To get it going again I must power the router off for at least 1 min, then power it back on.

    Any idea's?

This router has worked for a few months, but it has kinda done this hear and there, but now it is constant.

maybe you have a loose/bad cable? see what happens if you bypass the router for 15 minutes of direct-connect...

Already done that, and she works fine...I can almost guarantee its the router.

Also, in the case of bad cable, the 2 comps on the router both loose connection and I've tried two different cables for the router...Niether seem to make any changes, also in my experience if you have the tinyest damage to the interior of a cable it just plainly does not work period.

i had a problem using W2K Server on a network with 98 installed using ICS. For some reason, my machine kept trying to be the master, and kept grabbing 192.168.0.1, and my buddies computer would also be using it, and all 5 machines would go down. He'd end up unplugging me, and I had to dial-in!

This was a few years ago, but I think I changed something in the network card properties to resolve the situation.
