    Java compiler

    Can anyone direct me to a good java compiler\editor? (free please)

    The one they give us by default for university is... ...
    Don't pay attention to this signature, it's contradictory.

    For a compiler go to Suns homepage and download the Standard Edition(java.sun.com I think). For an IDE the best I know is Eclipse which I think is at www.eclipse.org <-- AFAIK it's dev'ed by IBM...

    RealJ is a free IDE but rather limited, JCreator is way better but I dunno if its free.

    Look at my sig. I use JCreator and Eclipse. The free version of JCreator does not have access to the API so you need to have some API docs handy or know it really well.
