Keyboard media buttons
I have a Toshiba Satellite laptop with dedicated keyboard buttons for play, stop, fast-forward, and rewind. However, these only seem to control Windows Media Player, and I haven't found a way to change this. Is there any way to customize the funciton of these buttons? I'd like to use them with Winamp, for example.

you can prolly change it, but it would only work for WinAmp, then. I don't think that there is a way to use it for any app. i have 5 buttons on my laptop, and i never even use them!
just tried them. they are in keyboard, one-touch buttons, and it does as I thought. allows you to choose AN application to use.
one of them is TVNOW. hmm. interesting enough to share.
The TV Now button makes it simple to show DVDs or slide shows on your television using TV Now. Pressing the button temporarily makes the following changes:
· Switches on the computer's S-video output
· Sets the display to the optimum resolution for TV output
· Prevents the system from turning off automatically
· Disables the screensaver
· Keeps the system on even when the lid is closed
To restore normal settings and switch back to LCD display, press the button again.

Interesting.. I don't seem to have the One-touch buttons option. Is this something I have to install from somewhere, or might there be another place to change it?

aren't there any Toshiba programs that you can select from the start menu? look in your book. it could be that they are static, and set to some kind of default, but I wouldn't think so.
maybe its online at the toshiba site?

I doubt you can, on my laptop, there is no software to use those buttons, rather Windows interperates them and passes them on as default "special" keys, so it's up to winamp to recognise them.
I use Microsoft Visual Basic 2005. (Therefore, most code samples I provide will be based around the .NET Framework v2.0, unless otherwise specified)
