    Colors and your eyes

Now, I sit in front of a comp alot, and I consider my eyes to be most precious. Without eyes, I must wait until someone invents a nice enough voice recognition system that I could program with...lol

So, I have a friend who set up his windows appearance to have black backgrounds and matrix green writing.

Now, I set that up to, and programming in VC++ with black backgrounds and green text, all the colors show up, it looks awesome....

    but I don't need flashy.

So my question is, do staring a certain colors all day compared to other colors hinder or assist eye deteriation???

Darker colors put less strain on your eyes. But then you have to keep in mind the contrast presented. If you are working on a dark background, the surroundings, if they are bright, will contrast, and put a little strain on your eyes. So a good way to cope with this would be to dim the lights. Keep your surroundings dim, but not dark.

Best place to put your monitor is away from windows instead of in front of it.

And a friend of mine, who's a doctor, pointed out to me that IT geeks generally tend to stare continuously at the monitor like zombies. We rarely blink. It's best to keep blinking, there's nothing we have to lose by blinking.

Red on blue or blue on red is the worst combination. Our eyes are supposed to be unable to focus in such a case.

If you can't read the above, you are normal.

Stuff like stopping for a few minutes every now and then helps, also things like looking out a window and focusing on things far away, then near, then far again helps.

I'm goona try that nice yellow on blue.
Maybe a bit darker of a blue.

trying to focus on that red on blue up above was hard, my eyes just got pissed off at me. it hurt.

I'm glad I sparked a good topic, I learned lots.
Don't have much to add...so...Thank you all
