    A few Router questions

Alright, I recently set up a router and this would be the first time I've ever had to peer into this stuff.

    So two problems
    - I can barely connect to anyone on Kazaa, just a select few...like when I used to use zone alarm. Except I have turned off all of my routers security functions.. I dunno why.
    - I cannot FTP outside of my network. I'm sure I can I just do not know how. The router has its IP addy which it the dynamic one my ISP gives. Then it gives all other comps an arbitary IP addy relative only to this network. How do I connect to a comp within a network via FTP?

For peer to peer to work, they need a direct connection to YOUR PC, what they are connecting to is your router, not your PC. The reason being that your router doesn't know where to send the packets because they most likely didn't originate from within the network and the are dropped as a result.

To fix it, use port forwarding in your router to forward the ports the programs use to your PC and then try it again.
I use Microsoft Visual Basic 2005. (Therefore, most code samples I provide will be based around the .NET Framework v2.0, unless otherwise specified)

Well I figured that much myself.

I did not know that I could set my router to pass certain ports to my PC.

First time ever needing to care about a router.

    Thanks
