    CPU Temps

So I have this nifty neon temperature LCD on my computer.

It doesn't do me much good if I don't have any idea what temperature is
    good, bad, or ugly.

    it normally operates around 75-80 °F (that's 24-27 C).

Since I've seen people being concerned at high 40 C temps, I'm sure I"m fine,
But when would be a good temp to double check things?

BTW, http://www.overclockers.com/ has some great links about cooling, but
no "bad range" for ignoranimous's like me.
    Merry Christmas

My CPU constantly runs at about 50o C, and it's ok (makes a good fried egg as well). Some can run hotter than others though, so much above that and you may need to watch it more carefully.

just make sure that it gets plenty of ventilation. once it loses that, the temp rises very quickly

Mines runs at approx 45-47°C which is alright. Depending on the brand/model, they can run at different max temperatures. The P4 can run at somethign like 80°C before it starts to feel the heat, but the P4 is designed to automatically slow down to reduce the heat and speed up when it's cooled down.

Oh, and listen to the fans! When they start making that annoying loud humming noise, pay close attention to it because they are on their way out. My graphics card fan did it, I ignored it, the fan stopped and I was unaware and it cooked the GPU .
