Its ok but its nothing new. They fell for the 'Graphics is everything' ploy
Still worth a look because it is very impressive
I personally like the Farcry graphics system much more, and I even find FarCry to be a bit more scary, whereas doom seems like a bad horrer movie, with a weird weird engine

Since I'm not anywhere near the best at these type of games (having only bearly completing Hitman Contracts and being the cannon fodder in counterstrike) I still find it scary (chunks of wall falling off).
My comp couldn't cope very well.. and I have yet to try the level editor.
I didn't get a chance to try Far cry :/ I have read people were having problems with patches tho??
Back to Doom 3 - linear like the first ones and scary (lights low or off, volume up, weird noise on the other side of the room making you jump. The Graphics are wonderful, and as the games progress I think they'll be better.
Just need HL2 to arrive so we can get counterstriking on that
Feeling like a fly on the inside of a closed window (Thunk!)

The good thing about XBox is that you don't have to let your coffee go cold waiting for a PC to boot up, switch on and 15 seconds later you are slaying baddies left, right and centre.
Eeeeeh....when I was a lad me mum made me catch me own supper. We lived in a box on a street corner and I had to share 1 pair of underpants with me 3 brothers.
Hehe, got Doom3 today . I have the setting turned to Ultra and its running fine at 1024x768 .
I just shat myself when the guy lying dead over the edge of a ledge falls off as you walk past him to pick up the armour on the ground......since that point I've been too scared to play it properly . Alot better than i was expecting I should say .

The same occured with Quake 3 it had a massive hype but was pants to play.
Doom 3 is too predictable to be a suspense game and they ruined it by trying to make a full action suspense game. AvP worked better because you didnt know when they were going to attack.
Maybe we have become too experianced at gaming and thus need a different challenge from the 'Highly predictable' big games of today.
Anyone ever play Clive Barkers Undying? That was really good but never really seemed to take off
