What actully Dual Screen Monitor is?
I am working on new setup for my office. Since we have to acommodate large number of people , but have chrunch of space, and single person have to work on more than one application running on different servers, i have been advised by few of counterparts to use dual screen monitors.
What actually does that mean? what I have been told its like one monitor partitioned into two parts and both displaying contents from different applications.?
but is it possible? if yes then what kind of monitor i need?do i need any sapport software too?
Please help....

It means you just use 2 separate monitors on one PC. You need a twin-head video card for this though.
Most laptops have a monitor out port and you can have the normal TFT laptop screen as screen A and another CRT monitor as B if you want. I did this for a while when I was using MSDN a lot while programming.
Whats the point of partitioning a single screen? All you have to do to get that effect is to rightclick the taskbar and select "Tile Windows horizontally".

I think what you need is a KVM Switch
One keyboard
One video (monitor)
One mouse
To control a number of different machines.

I know of KVM switch. but it doent solve my problem. since its one of the screen on the monitor has to be there always as it display the information for the person to work on the application he wil be working.
But since he will be swiching between the applications, the the second portion is to be guided by some thing like KVM switch.
I dont know if its actully possible...
any comments...........

Despite still being a grammatician's nightmare, you have actually managed to spell some difficult words correctly, I know you normally have trouble with "it" and "is". Clever doggie, have a bikkit.

By the way, you don't necessarily need a dual head video card. Just install a second regular video card.

I wonder how many charact
Most recent Nvidia cards have desktop extension abilities...
I can only assume the same goes for ATI....
And you wouldn't need two monitors, you could get this instead....

Dual-monitor is really nice for programming... especially web programming or SQL Server programming.

For that money I'd expect the screen to be continuous all the way across, that inch wide gap is rubbish.
I'd rather have that triple-screen thingy taht was posted up here a few weeks ago. That was sweet.
I can't wait until they get virtual reality sorted properly. Then we could concentrate on making computer powerful, we haven't even hit the 5GHz barrier yet (in mainstream machines I mean).
Give us machines with 1024 CPUs running at 128 terahertz (each ) and then maybe I'll get my wallet out
