Window XP
Hi All:
I purchased Dell hardware with Window XP as the default OS. From time to time, when I start my machine, I get an error. The error usually is Window Logon file cannot be found or missing. Normally I shut down my system and restart it back again few minutes latter. 95% of the time this solved the problem and I am able to get into my computer. The other 5% of the time I would end up rebooting the computer the second time. I called the company that sold me the computer and they told me that it is a Window scripting issue and I need to call Dell.
I have basically been shift around from one dept. to another and from one company to another. Some have suggested that I should reinstall OS, some suggested I should buy a new hardware. This is fine, however I can not afford to buy a brand new system again.
Thus, what at my options here? How can I fix this problem.
Any hint or ideas is greatly appricated.
Thanks

Who suggested you should buy new hardware?
If this is a new PC it should still be under warranty take it back to where you got it a demand a new (working) one.
But in the short term what is the exact error message, these sort of things usually happen to a number of people and googling it should point you in the right direction.

Thank you DeadEyes for getting back to me. I will try google and see if I can find some answers.
I purchased the system from a company call POS and they are the one who suggested that I should get a new hardware.
Thanks

Do you have auto logon enabled?
this might help.
Also move this thread to General PC you'll get a lot more people looking at it.
