    Is there any out there or is winsock the main one?

    Well, there is MS INet control, but its very limited, its nothing like winsock. It is usful for simple task such as retriving html things like that.

    MSComm is the one alternative but it can communicate through Modem or any hardware and port could be 1 to 16 only

    IP components must be available by the hundreds. Have a look at ComponentSource.
