    Angry Spyware Bullsh*t

my browser(IE) has been hijacked by a start page called "http://start-page.info"

i've ran the following spyware programs:

    Ad-Aware 6 Pro
    Spybot S&D
    HijackThis
    SpyHunter

although they do delete it... it comes right back!!!!!

i've tried removing the registry entries it applies.. re-setting the start page.. clearing cookies, temp files, etc..

    it just won't go away...

i don't know what to do next......

Have you tried googling about it? You'd be suprised how easy it is to find a solution for problems like this on google.
I use Microsoft Visual Basic 2005. (Therefore, most code samples I provide will be based around the .NET Framework v2.0, unless otherwise specified)

In your HOSTS file, add an entry

    127.0.0.1 start-page.info

Next, you say you can't get to google? Then how did you get to vbforums? Is it blocking only specific sites?

    Read these:

You can find the coolwebshredder here:

Next on: stop surfing "those" sites. Set your security level to high.

Or better, move to FireFox. It doesn't deal with ActiveX, which is how you ended up with this spyware in the first place.

I definitely agree that you should move to FF. I used to be set against using anything but IE, but after multiple browser hijacks, I was ready to give in. I had Firefox, Netscape, and Opera all on my computer to test websites, so I gave them all a try, and I liked FireFox the best.

After using it for a few months, I'm never going back to IE. It's fantastic. It has a built in popup blocker and an addin you can download to filter out ads. Very handy.
My evil laugh has a squeak in it.

When Microsoft releases Windows XP Service Pack 2 to the masses tomorrow, I suggest you download this. It has many little gadgets designed to stop this behaviour. And turn on Automatic Updates if you havn't already.

If you don't have Windows XP, ignore this point, but still turn Automatic Updates on
