Not NoteMe
Open, i think means there's no connection where the white line is (for two given pins), closed means there is a connection between the 2 pins. (may be the other way round
My suggestion is if there's a connection between the PW ones, then take off the connector, otherwise put one on.
Not sure about 'Green Mode'. Would have thought it would mention it in the manual though.

Well the connection which goes into the PW pins is the Power Switch cable which consits of one green and one white cable and goes back to the cases power button.
I am not sure whether the open and closed means the direction in which it is put in or whether it is only half put in. . I'm too scared to mess with it too much just incase I blow it up.
I have tried taking the cable off all together and then the computer doesn't power up. As it is the power switch cable that does seem the logical thing to happen though.

Not NoteMe
Not sure in that case then.
I guess you could try the manufacturers web-site / hardware forums though.
P.S. I assume you've already looked at the advanced tab in 'Power Options' in control panel.

You sure you have installed the ACPI drivers for Windows 2000 so that it identifies that it can do that?
I use Microsoft Visual Basic 2005. (Therefore, most code samples I provide will be based around the .NET Framework v2.0, unless otherwise specified)

I'm really not sure - The power managment control panel doesn't have all its tabs and buttons that it should.
I am just about to re-install the computer becuase the current installation of Windows 2000 is completeley buggered. I am not sure why but random control panel items are missing, it won't let you install the games and certain software like VS 6 just fails to install.
I have a feeling that this is probably a software issue rather than a hardware issue and when I reinstall it'll all be OK.
Thanks for the help.

I've seen it several times, and each time it has been a software issue (the driver issue that Ideas man said).
There are a few MS KB articles that can fix it, or you can re-install Windows. From the sounds of it you've already made your decision!

I have just re-installed the OS and it works fine now. Half the options in the power managment control penel were missing.
I think the problem was caused when the computer was originally installed. My brother said it died half way through a sevice pack install.
Once again, thanks for help.
