Kazaa at work , possible ?[gave up]
I can surf the web but can't run thse clients like kazaa or bittorent . It must be because I'm behind firewall , how can I solve this if I only know the proxy address and port (8080) .
Thanks all .

Usually you can't because your administrator has most probably closed the ports. You can try entering that as the port for the proxy in the required programs, or changing the operating port to 8080 and see if you get any snags.
I use Microsoft Visual Basic 2005. (Therefore, most code samples I provide will be based around the .NET Framework v2.0, unless otherwise specified)

Yeah, that looks great, I might try it as well, I need something so I can RDP home from school, might do the trick.

LOL, I was about to say the same thing, except you let us know, I'm on school holidays for another week now so I won't know until then.

sssssshhhhhhhhhhhhh!
Back in the day, it was as easy as >Tools>Internet Options>Connection>LAN Settings, and UNCHECKING THE "USE PROXY SERVER" button. Except for not writing it down to replace the values, I thought I was screwed, except that a reboot replaced the values.
We were locked to the INTRANET which mirrored the co's web site. Going anywhere INTERNET required a login/password. That is, unless someone unchecked the box. Maybe security has gotten better, but it may be worth a try!

just find an open proxy somewhere perhaps? It should all run through port 80...
You really shouldn't run Kazaa though, they'll notice when you start downloading heaps crap.

Well if you get around the firewall, make sure you start typing up your resume because you will be out of a job fast. Dont think anyone is monitoring the network traffic?

I tried port scanner on my machine and found only 3 ports open (110,135,???). Don't know if this is the right testing though ....

I didn't ask for your opinion about Kazaa . My question is clear , if you don't have answer , then stop arguing and leave the thread . That's it .

Umm , I don't know if I misunderstood you but what I meant is : I can only browse HTTP links but no FTPs or other socket clients or whatever . Just downloading off websites ...It's damn firewalled .

1. I read the other day that you could connect to your home computer from work with a secure channel (shunnel) which sends encrypted between the two comps...and once you got a connection you can surf internet using the connection your home comp has...but you better search more about this...
2. What if you use remote desktop to your home comp?

Common sense would imply, negative =)
A chain is only as strong as its weakest link, or in other words, if your home computer is slow, then it will just be slower because it has to encrypt the data and all that jazz back and forth, but yea it might let you download stuff =/, in which case you would be better off just dling it at home and ferrying it to work on a disc so you dont have to risk being fired over something as trivial as a music download or something.
