you can have max 5 players, but making it 2 player would be totally fine.

each player gets 9 cards; 3 face down, 3 face up on top of the face down ones, and 3 in the hand.
At the start of the game each player can swap any of the cards in the hand with any of the face up cards on the table. And no looking at the face down cards!!!

Whoever has the lower card starts (special cards don't count).

You put down a card (or more than 1 as long as they have the same value). Lets say I put a 3. Then you can only put a 3 or higher. If you then put a 9 then I can only put a 9 or higher.

The cards that weren't used to deal to the players form a pack, after you've put cards down, you pick up the same amount of cards, so you always have 3 cards in your hand.

Once you've finnished the pack and you have no hand cards, then you can use the face up cards. Once they're gone, then you can use the face down cards. First person to have used all their cards wins.

If you cannot put down a higher or equal card. eg if you put a queen and I have nothing higher or another queen, then I have to pick up the pile of cards (not the pack, but the pile where the queen is lying on the top). I then don't pick up any more cards from the pack until I have less than 3 in the hand again.

special cards:
2. a 2 goes on anything and anything goes on a two
7. only cards lower or equal to a 7 can go on a 7.
8. 8 is seethrough. it goes on anything (even a 7), and you treat the pile as if the card under the 8 is the top card.
10. you 'flip' the pile. the entire pile goes out of the game and it's your turn again (note, doesn't go on a 7, but does go on anything else (even an ace))

oh, and aces are high.

I think that's it.


edit: near the end of the game, when using the face down cards, you cannot look at them. You pick one, then you have to use that one. If you can't, then you pick that one up and the pile. they all go into your hand.

other edit: and it is actually called sh*thead. I spoke to some french people who knew of it as merdetete (or whatever the literal translation is). It might have other names, but ****head is most definately a valid one.

At least it's not as rude as the programming language called brainf***.
