    Random restarts

It started to happen two days ago, my computer sometimes randomly restarts on its own, sometimes during startup.

    Any way to fix this?

I'm sure I heard some hardware person always say,
"random restarts = faulty power supply"

If your CPU is overheating, your system will reboot.

A bad PSU would more likely lead to crashes... and possible hardware failure.

Could also be MSBlast... or various other malware.

Those don't usually run during startup? Only Windows startup...

    Overclocking maybe.
I use Microsoft Visual Basic 2005. (Therefore, most code samples I provide will be based around the .NET Framework v2.0, unless otherwise specified)

ok, I didn't go buy a new fan because the restarts went away for about a day, so I thought everything was good, and now the restarts are so frequent that I cant even start up my computer without a restart, and they arnt random anymore, I have win2k and right after it says "loading personal settings..." or something like that, right after that box disappears, it restarts, sometimes it restarts right before the box disappears. What could it be? Please help.

I can go into BIOS settings and monitor my comps' temp, my CPU is around 45-47*C and CHA is around 30-35*C

I'm not "professionally trained" or anything but I mess with computers a lot. It sounds to me like your RAM is bad because I've run into the same situation before. In my case, I was able to use some RAM from another computer without having to buy RAM to see if that was the problem. It fixed the restart problem, so I was able to purchase some additional RAM knowing that it would resolve the problem. If you don't have "extra" RAM lying around, it's a tough expense if you don't know for sure that it will solve the problem but I suggest trying it.

Try reinstalling the OS ( or boot from a CD ) to see if it is hardware or software related.
