which product is best for server control...

    Hey all.

I'm looking for suggestions for a software that will both limit the amount of bandwidth alloted to each PC on the network, and control/log what is downloaded by each PC. for example, not allowing people to d/l exe files.

    Anybody know.

    Thanks

Depending on use, money and other factors, Microsoft's ISA Server does all that.
I use Microsoft Visual Basic 2005. (Therefore, most code samples I provide will be based around the .NET Framework v2.0, unless otherwise specified)

Yes unfortunatly, and it requires Microsoft Windows 2000 Server or Microsoft Windows Server 2003. There are discounts out now for ISA Server 2000 mainly because Microsoft ISA Server 2004 is due out soon. More info available at www.microsoft.com/isaserver

Basically any proxy server type application will allow you to do that...
