vb.net help!

hi htere i'm new to the vb.net programming sytem.. well i'm new to programming full stop actually, kinda learning as i go. Anyway i've managed tolearn enough to write a couple of small programs to help with a game i play. and i'm trying to write a more complex one to help me with another aspect of it. There lots i want it to do, but i don;t know enough to do it, i was wondering if there's any patient soul/s out there that woulnd't mind lending a hand with it?

ok i'll try and i'm sure i won't be using the correct terminology but here goes.

first of all how can i get a push button to read a script from a text file?

as an example i click the push button i create and it then reads from the text file, and sends what ever is in the text file to another application? <there is more to this bit... but i'll mention that later hopefully>

and how do you get it to put a pause in the program at a particular word in the txt file with a button to resume to carry on from that spot? until the next occurernce of that word?
