    MCAD - Exam 70-306

I'm currently studying for Exam 70-306 using the book " MCAD/MCSD Developing and Implementing Windows-based Applicaitons with Visual Basic .NET and Visual Studio .NET" by Mike Gunderloy.

Does anyone who's taken the exam have any tips for me? Has anyone used the book I'm using above and found it to be any good?

I've also done a search around for some sample tests and came across:

    http://www.transcender.com/products/...?sku=PFVWI0700

    and

    http://www.real-exams.com/70-306.htm

    and

    http://www.exactquestions.com/70-306.html

How good are these? Are they worth it?

How long do most of you study for before sitting the exam? What happens if you happen to fail it first time?

    I use test software from measureup.com to pass 70-176 & 70-175.
    I crammed for 1 1/2 weeks (4 tests) and passed with 93% & 75%
respectively before they were retired. Missed out on my MCSD,
not enough time, took three tests in one day, missed 70-100 by
    38 points (1 partial question 50 points each) and 70-029 by 60
points (3 questions 20 points each).

Now I am focusing on getting my MCAD with 70-306, 70-310, &
70-229. They have demo tests available there so you can sample
before you buy. I recommend it. Join the email list so you can be
notified when they have one of their sales, usually 20-50% off.

Also, at M$ they have the outline of what areas will be tested. So
if there is an area your not familiar with you can focus on it.

When taking any ms test, eliminate the known wrong answers
and choose from the rest. Read the actual question first then go
back and read what is relevalant to the question to save time.
Figure out the question per minute ratio so you can budget your
time. If you don't have enough time to complete the test you will
get the remaining unanswered questions wrong.

    Good luck.

Cheers mate - appreciate your response

Do you know anything about the Transcender sample exams. Are they actually worth the cost?

    HEY!!!!

I actually got the MCAD/MCSD VB.NET Win and Web App Study Guide and it has practice tests on CD. The book seems to the point, and has a summary section at the end of each chapter (with questions) to make sure you know what you should have gotten out of it.

Haven't taken the test yet, but will get around to taking both the 70-305 and 70-306 (1 in VB and the other in C#).
