    MS XP Not turning Off?

    Hello Everyone:

I am running MS XP, When I go to "Start > Turn Off > Turn Off" my computer will not turn off? I have also tried "Restart" But I still cannot get my computer to shut down?

I have looked in the MS website for a patch, but have had no luck.

    Any Ideas?

    Thanks

If you go into task manager, are there any applications not responding. Also, what processes do you have listed?

Have you installed any new hardware lately.... the drivers may be causing it to hang....

Uninstall driver and then remove hardware... (to isolate the problem then look for the latest drivers and then install the componet)

(I had a similar problem with a network card.)
    Tips:
    • Google is your friend! Search before posting!
    • Name your thread appropriately... "I Need Help" doesn't cut it!
    • Always post your code!!!! We can't read your mind!!! (well, at least most of us!)
    • Allways Include the Name and Line of the Exception (if one is occuring!)
    • If it is relevant state the version of Visual Studio/.Net Framwork you are using (2002/2003/2005)

An uncommon startup method used by trojans can cause this. Take a look to see if anyones messed around with...
    Code:
    HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\exefile\shell\open\command
    If its anything other than
    Code:
    "%1" %*
    I think thats your problem.
When you ask a question, try and answer a few
