    DVD-R disc not recognized

I have been buring dvd's for a long time now. Recently I reinstalled windows and downloaded nero so I could burn some dvd files. But this time it doesnt even recognize that I have a disc inserted. Why did this work before? Would you recommend just reinstall all the drivers and hope it works?

    Thanks for the help...

Uninstall and re-install are usually a good start but did you PAY for nero? A common problem is NERO will stop responding to your commands if it detects a bad serial (pirated h4x0res!!!).

I wouldn't say install drivers because Windows usually installs the drivers for them drives. I was gonna say flash your Firmware but you said it used to work.

One thing i'd try is uninstall nero completly and install it again and see if it works, sometimes it does.
I use Microsoft Visual Basic 2005. (Therefore, most code samples I provide will be based around the .NET Framework v2.0, unless otherwise specified)

You sure your drive supports -R disks?

He said it used to work, why would that matter, though I see your point, he could've got the wrong format.

yes it does support dvd-r's and yes it used to work.
Right now I am wondering if I should buy a laser disc cleaner thing to clean the lens becuase a day ago I tried a brand new dvd -r and it was recognized for a second and then it stoped recognizing it.

Do you think it just needs to be cleaned?

Couldn't hurt to give it a try.
