    Do the windows show up on the task bar when they aren't minimized?

    Is it possible that you've accidentally moved the bit on the task bar where programs show up?
    If you 'unlock the task bar' you should be able to see if this is the case.

    Also, have you recently installed any software that may alter it in any way?
    If you do ctrl-alt-del in your admin profile and the profile where it doesn't work are there any programs that get run on startup that are different between the 2?
