Media Player
Does anybody know of a media player for Windows that has built-in support common codecs, does not need installation and free?

The problem is that install is restricted on that machine so you can't install additional codecs and use them in WMP. There should be some programs that you just extract them somewhere and they run.

Unfortunatenaly I don't know of any such program, probably because codecs tend to change over time and new releases of XviD and DivX come out now and then.

Doesn't WMP download the required codecs automatically when trying to play a file, or can't you even do that?

No it doesn't do that in this case, and you have to install that, but it doesnt let you copy required files to windows folder.

try copying the codec files directly to the programs directory, if your lucky.... the program searches the programs directory, windows, system32, ect.
if not then your sol unless you want to try to get around the security ;o
SLH : I would assume that Microsoft doesnt have the rights to serv xvid, xvid, or chooses not to... WMP can only download certain codecs ;(
