    Removing DirectX 9?

Is it possible to pull that off? I installed it a while ago, and it has screwed up a few of my games. So, I now want to remove 9 alltogether, and just use 8.1

Is there any way to uninstall DirectX period, or rollback, or anything?

    Thanks!

In short, NO! It is designed so you can't take it off. It is in no way supported by Microsoft. If your games are screwing up, make sure you have DX9.0b installed and/or re-install it. That about all you can do short of a re-install, but you shouldn't have to because my games work fine with DX9.0b.
I use Microsoft Visual Basic 2005. (Therefore, most code samples I provide will be based around the .NET Framework v2.0, unless otherwise specified)

As I said DX9.0b is not the newest version....DX9.0b Summer Edition is. And it fixes a hell of a lot of bugs....downlod it....

Thanks for the help, guys. I DLed DirectX 9.0b last night, but it didn't help any. Specifically, the games Star Trek: Starflet Command III, and Tachyon: The Fringe are the main ones goofing up on me. SFCIII does have a DX9 fix, but that doesn't help either. Guess I'll try the cliche "Get the newest vid-card drivers" solution.

Are you sure your not thinking of the SDK, rather than the end user runtimes?

If I have understood it right it is also updated run time files in that SDK, so I guess it can be found at microsoft.com. This guy is not the first that have had problems with DX9.0b, so I just guessed that the runtime library also have been updated, since it was terrible buggy for both Users and developers.

As an extra note there is a couple of programs out there that will remove Dx for you but as said above they aren't microsoft aproved, I once needed to uninstall a Dx a while back.

If you ever need to heres the link:

but as you've found upgrading is often a better idea .
