Unhappy Windows XP and 2000 Server network problems

I am running windows xp workstations under a 2000 server.
They run fine when first started up or rebooted but after say an hour of not being used the network connection seems to be lost or run very slow. At first I thought it was just a sybase problem as I only noticed the problem when the database system kep crashing with nop link to the server. It appears to be all network services to the server including printers.

We have 1 2000 server with 3 workstations running sybase.

If anyone knows of any fixes please email me at [email protected].

I've checked the network cards for timeouts and they apear fine.

    Thanks Rich

We had this at my school, except all the mapped drives kept disconnecting. There is a policy about it that you set for the computers, but i can't remember off the top of my head what it is, when i gets back to school i'll tell you what it is (I gots exams now).
I use Microsoft Visual Basic 2005. (Therefore, most code samples I provide will be based around the .NET Framework v2.0, unless otherwise specified)
