I won the land (375 acres) in a poker game in '69. The
previous owner had collected it as a debt in a bouree game
in New Orleans in '68. The owner previous to THAT had lost
beaucoup of $$$ trying to raise turtles for turtle soup.
The alligators kept eating the turtles. The land is under
3" - 4' of water (Mississippi Delta) exept for about 35
acres, has NO gas or oil, and cannot be timbered (bird
sanctuary). As far as I know, no taxes have been paid
since '65.

Not even the Cajun's want it.

I had to put a filter on my phone line so I could use the phone and the DSL at the same time. Didn't you?

Ummmm no.... my ISP may not be "up to date" but they can't transfer the ADSL signal over a voice line...

so we still have 2 phone lines, but they pay for the 2nd...


Is your connection always on BTW?

I have to "dial - up" to mine... not really dial up but it has to communicate with the ISP... then I can go on the internet

I also have a dynamic IP addy....

after the holidays I am going to call my ISP and ask if they can tell me how to have the connection always on, and if I can have a static IP

Mine's always on. I have a zone alarm set up that doesn't allow people to find my IP adress unless I want them to.

I wish mine was always on....

about 3 weeks before I got DSL I talked to people to find out what the best firewalls were...

I have Black Ice, Zone Alarm, At Guard, and Norton Personal Firewall

although it's good to have 1, or 4, but I don't really need them now since my connection can be disconnected....

Do you have a lot of family near you? We are all meeting at my cousins in Fallbrook. He lives on an Avocado orchard. There will be 25 of us ranging from 2 weeks to 80 years. I can't wait!
