The best thing to do is to work out the manufacturer, it can be found on the board in a larger (usually) font than anything else. It may be an abbreviation, if so let us know and we might be able to tell you who it is.

Once you have that, you can go to their web-site for instructions on how to find the model.

If it's an Intel motherboard, i'm sure the model number is there somewhere, though you might be looking at the chipset. Try googling some of them numbers and see if they turn up a piccy of your mobo.
I use Microsoft Visual Basic 2005. (Therefore, most code samples I provide will be based around the .NET Framework v2.0, unless otherwise specified)

Unfortunately chips like that can be used on many different boards. You need to read any text on the board itself.

There is an alternative method which uses the BIOS reference number (shown when you first turn on the computer), which is described here:

Often, the model number is found between the last two expansion slots on the board. It is also sometimes on a removable sticker on the reverse of the board, but you'd have to take everything apart to find it.

I would've though Windows would pick the board up, not sure on how old yours is but it detects my Intel D850GB mobo perfectly .
