    DarkBASIC

DarkBASIC is a 3D game programming language. Does any one know anything more about it?

    For example good (free) tutorials?
    Have snippits of code?
used it and have an opinion?

I do realise this thread is old, but I have used DarkBasic before. The darkbasic website has some tutorials, aswell as some compiled games for you to look at. It is really quite a good little language, because the outcomes can be extremely good. It can produce very fast 3D effects (in the DarkBasic I used to use, there were tutorials built into the Dos-Like IDE, which generated code, for a 3D man who walked around, and a game where you could run through a never-ending maze). The only thing its for is games programming. Check the DarkBasic site (or search on google) for a snowboarding game. It was very smooth, with weather effects and all. It was 3D aswell

I have now infact purchased said package.

I quite like it although the move back to a more Sprectrum / BBC basic was a little jaring.

Sadly I was hopeing it'd be a little more like VB for games.

Do you (or anyone else) know what my next best step would be?

Search Google for "DarkBasic 3D Game Source". There are a number of tutorials showing you how to create 3D games with complete worlds in < 200 lines of code. They include AI, objects, doors and all of those. There are also a number of 2D game tutorials out there. Go to the DarkBasic Website and look in there forums. There are many posts there which are very informative.

This thread is still old...but here is at least my 2 cent. J.Harbour made the first really good book about using DX7 in VB. After that he started a book about Dark Basic programming. I bet it is just as good. You should relly check it out. I haven't looked at it. But it would be the first book in my bookshelf if I ever tested Dark Basic...
