Spam Blocker for Outlook.

Is there any free spam email blocker forum Outlook? Does anyone here uses any?

OL 2000 has some sort of filter.

You can set keywords or something like that. There are rules wizards you can set up yourself but there is no single magic bullet I'm afraid.

Upgrade to Outlook 2003. It has an advanced spam filter and a very nice interface and many other excellent improvements.

...but if you don't wanna do that (don't know why) then try ella, it is supposed to be the best spam blocker, works fine with Outlook (designed for it).

I'm using Outlook Express at home, and I have filters in place for my hotmail accounts, but my POP accounts have no filters. I just get the email messages directly, and sometimes contain spam or are infected.

Anything I can do to prevent this in the first place?

When i used Outlook Express, i created a simple rule containing the key words used in most spam, that handled my span needs quite well. I don't have to worry about spam and viruses, my ISP scans it all before i get it.

I'll try that thanks. But if I'm running rules, the message gets downloaded first, and then the rule is run. Correct?



Unfortunately, I live in a poverty stricken country, our ISPs can't differentiate between spam and regular email, so it's all up to me.

Yes, i recently upgraded to 2003, its pretty cool, havent set up the rules yet. I was using SpamFigther (a plugin for Outlook) which works really well and catches most of the spams, but my trial is expiring so thats why was wondering if there anything similar.

Yes i used keywords too, but those stypid annoying ** dont even uses normal words anymore, so cant filter it , also some uses just images instead of any text. Its hard to filter using keywords, i am getting 20/30 spams a day

Most spam e-mails are in HTML so you could add a rule which filters out <img> tags and marks the message as spam.

Have you tried PopFile??

Turn on Outlook's spam filter and set the level to what you want. There are a few updates for it to enchance it's scanning ability. Expect Microsoft to update it a bit in it's effort to reduce spam.

Expect it to be updated quite frequently as Microsoft removes spam with all it's technologies.

Try visiting www.blackviper.com, the site has some common-sense rules to filter out spam emails.

I guess as long as you don't view the message in the Preview pane or double-clicking, or don't open the attachment, you should be fine. Simply downloading the messages won't probably harm, although it may consume bandwidth. I think with some versions of OE you can't delete the messages from the server directly, without downloading them. If possible, use filters at the ISP level to sort out mail into different folders and then only download from the inbox.
