    Computer Components

I'm looking to build my own PC. Anyone here have any suggestions on a good website to go to in order to buy the parts for my PC (ex: Motherboard, Hard Drive, etc.)?

    Thanks in advance

I buy a lot of my components second hand from eBay. I picked up a dual Processor PIII motherboard for £60. It also means that if you blow something up you havn't wasted too much money on brand new components.

One exception to my rule is hard drives. I would always buy a hard drive brand new becuase second hand hard drives sometimes have dark histories which could get you into trouble.

The best thing too do is shop around. Most of my friends swear by ebuyer (but its not one of my favourite), Lindop.net have a nice range of second hand processors and graphics card and I have recieved excellent service from them.

For IDE cables, Network cards and RAM I use eBay. I've not had any bad experiences with eBay so far.

If you have never built a computer before, I would advise that you do not dive in at the deep end and builed yurself a top of the range 64bit system, as you could be more than a little dissapointed if you screw things up. Practice on an old 486 first and experiment with things.
