Crystal Reports? What am I doing wrong?
Hi all!
I have been trying and trying to get Crystal Reports to work on a client machine but all my attempts have failed. I keep on getting that stupid KeycodeV2.dll message.
I’m about ready to throw this thing out of the Window.
I have added the Merge modules to the setup program and crystal report is also registered.
It is working just fine on my machine but when I deploy to another pc I keep on getting the error message.
I have looked at the CR website and only found something about that keycodeV2.dll message happening on the development pc. The only other comment in the help section was something about the beta version of VS having that problem because of some files not being in the same place as the release version.
Can someone help??
Thanks in advance!!

Rally two things to check. In my case I had to do both. Make sure that keycodeV2.dll is registered by using the regsvr32 command
http://support.businessobjects.com/l...s/c2012603.asp
also make sure that you have done this The License Key requires the keycode that you receive after registering the product. When Crystal Report for Visual Studio .NET is registered, an email is sent with a keycode and a registration number. Copy the keycode into the License Key property, and then build the setup project.

Thanks for the reply!!
But unfortunately I have already done that and the license key has to be placed into the merge module before it will let you compile. (And I don’t have no problems compiling it)

Ok how about this? There was also something (it has been a while) to do with detected dependencies. I can't find the link now but I think you have to us a CR dependency and not the default one that VS puts in that folder. I think it was an msm file that had to be added to the setup project.

I remember looking at that one also, but it deals with a problem on the development machine rather than the end user machine.

I am assuming that you have seen this (or is doesn't applyt to you) but just in case here it is. It is a pdf file about deploying reports in apps
If you are using the full version of CR 9: The dotnetcrystalreports.msm and dotnetfxredist_x86_enu.msm should be excluded because it will conflict with components in the other merge modules. Right-click on this item in the Solution Explorer and select Exclude

Thank you so much for all that help!
I reinstalled the App. again and now it is running but it is wanting me to log on??? Is this normal?? I don't like that no more than the invalid keycode message. Especially because it is trying to log to the CD drive where the installation files reside. Can this be fixed somehow to where it automatically comes up? I was under the impression that it would work just like in my development environment.
Again thanks for all the help!!

HI,
No help with your problem but I notice that there are more unanswered posts on Crystal Reports that any other subject. I reckon you will have to find a specialist Crystal Reports forum

I feel your pain, it is beyond me how Crystal Reports has become a leader for reporting. Their whole package is nothing but crap if you ask me.
Don't know if you can change at this point, but I have heard NOTHING but good stuff about this:

Thanks!
I think I have solved my problem by changing some of the settings in my crystal report report. It was not easy to figure this out and I most definitely feel the same way you do
I think the whole package is crap.
And the link you have provided is very useful, I will switch no doubt.
