Thumbs up Helper of the week

How about having like a little "Fame" corner for helper of the week/month?

Which ever user has had the most votes/regonised view of helping many users/to a standard the person in need appreciates, gets there name posted in the "Fame" corner.

I think this is a good thing, enourages more members to help other users even more

How would you recognise the helping(accepted) answers?

If say you helped me, I could rate you:

"Did you think this users help was succesfull?

    Yes or No"

Obviously its optional to vote (and you cant voe yourself, and each member can only vote once like a poll!)

Then at the end of week/month whatever its tallied up, whoever gets most rated wins

But this brings us the the evil hack word This would definatelly require changes and maintenence Even though it is a good idea, I really can't see it happening (unless version 3 is released someday)...

I actually don't think it's too good an idea. I think it would also encourage a "You scratch my back, I'll scratch yours" kind of approach. Also, I think it would make more beginners try to help all the time, which is nice and all but if you don't know the subject very well, you're not going to be able to help all that well either.

    You sound like Microsoft.

There could be that "star" rating system that the other BBs have, but I don't think rating is a good idea for two reasons:

    1) It could create dissention among the users
    2) I won't get many stars.

ok, here is how you might setup it, some mod like marty could post a poll in Chit Chat or new forum, and let the votes commense.

But then again, you cant have a list of all members, so maybe list 10 out of a draw or something.

Then again, thats not the best way, and it would get repetitive for the mods

oh, i was slowly trying to learn C++ Hello World apps, the code looked like C++ to me

    Anyway, back to topic.

Does anyone actually think this is a good idea, or is it not worth the hassle?
