Any good FTP Server Software?
Any good FTP server software out there? What do you use?
Windows or Linux recommendations are welcome.
Thanks all.

For Linux I would recommend ProFTP
For Windows I used to use GuildFTP.
Both are free. The linux option is good for a headless server and comes with an easy to use config file similar to that of apache.

I would also have to go with SmartFTP.

I just realized you asked for server software. SmartFTP is an FTP client. Sorry for any confusion.

IIS can function has an FTP server too. It comes with Windows 2000 and Windows XP Pro.
I use Microsoft Visual Basic 2005. (Therefore, most code samples I provide will be based around the .NET Framework v2.0, unless otherwise specified)

So Unbanned
One of the best servers for Windows would have to be G6 FTP server. It no longer technically exists though. Bulletproof bought it, so it's now Bulletproof FTP Server.
Even Serv-U FTP is decent.
A good client would be LeechFTP.

Bulletproof... i have heard of that one a while back. Sounds interesting, i'll check it out with WS_FTP and GuildFTP.
The reason of not using Microsoft's IIS is security concern. Too widely used, too widely understood including the vulnerbilities.
Thanks all.
