    Free space isn't reclaimed ?[Resolved]

I kept getting that nasty popup message that's telling me I have to free some space on H: partition . I did delete around 700mb . I checked free space size and it's still the same (45mb) . I ran that cleaning tool . still the same . I defragmented , and still the same , lastly I restarted and check again , oh f-uck it's still the same . . It's driving me crazy . What more can I do ?

Do you maybe have norton to protect your recycle bin?

Make sure the recycled directory, usually located at root is not protected, IE Read-only or locked by some directory locking app.

I've noticed a bug with Recycle Bin where shared or virtual drives that have been focus'd through a third party app can sometimes slip through the net.

It jumped now from 45mb to 1.2 gb ... . Big change , after deleting like 400 mb . Yes , I have Norton and I believe it's protecting my recycle bin on the C: partition only .
I don't trust XP on this thing . Do you think the reg save previous values and with some magic it retrieves this when quering free space ?

I don't know about that. i just remember that I had that "problem" with Norton. I was deleting stuff to make space and I couldn't see any change! So you might want to make sure it isn't protecting the files of that drive.

aha , Norton is eating up some space for recovering deleted files . If anyone stuck on this , it's easy you can do this to set the size for Norton Protection :

Right click Recycle Bin ----->Norton Protection -----> Drive Usage , then set the values .

Acutally it's not problem as it's more inconvenient for me . . It was saving 10% of each partition free space .This 10% sometimes equals to 5.5 gb . Now I have about 6gb free space (it was only 45mb ) ..........
