Getting VB to detect Infrared signals
Has anyone got any info on recognising signals received via an infrared device? I want to make my app infrared compliant so u can use a remote control as well as a keyboard.
I think i need the IR DLL that comes with windows but how i poll and detect signals is a bit vague.
Any help chaps and chapesses?
Thanks

Any idea how you would be interfacing that infrared device with your computer ? Is it going to use some Port ? COM Or LPT ?

As i havent bought the infra red device yet (as im waiting to find out if its easier to program a Serial IR device or a USB), i cant answer that question. If i go the USB route i would need to talk to the driver of the ir device so would be different to the COM port route. Trouble is, as i will be selling my app (plus the IR receiver), depending on available stocks of COm or USB, i could be using both!
I was hoping it was a fairly simple task, just talking to a port and getting a value but it appears its not that straightforward.
