Roaming (Network) Profiles and VBA Macros in Excel 97
We have a Dept. using Windows NT 4.0, Office 97, and roaming profiles(**) in Novell Netware. Two staff share a spreadsheet with VBA Macros (stored in modules) and a customised toolbar.
We are experiencing persisting problems with the Spreadsheet's VBA Project, which seems to be a problem between Windows NT 4.0 and Office 97, manifesting itself in Roaming Profiles.
- The most common problem is certain Roaming Profiles (users) suddenly refusing to perform the VBA Macros. This is normally fixed by deleting that user's Roaming Profile, and Windows NT re-creates a Profile upon log-in.
- Recently, such re-created Roaming Profiles are now producing an Access Violation in Excel upon openning.
- Recently, the VBA Project reported "Project Locked/Project is unviewable", we un-checked this property using Tools -> Options -> Properties in Office XP/2000 and then Saved as Excel 97.
- We have also discovered that Excel does not like such Spreadsheets sharing a duplicate filename, i.e. when the Spreadsheet is copied to another directory.
Has anyone any input or experience of our problem?
Thanks,
Mark.
** Roaming profiles are a minimalist backup of the user's Windows environment, which copy themselves back to C: upon log-in and save themselves to the user's Home (network) drive upon log-out.
