I need to make a program that can take in a displacement map, displace it onto a 3d grid and allow you to move points around cganging the heights on the displacement image. When its done i need it to blur the image a bit, because pulling the points might make it choppy. Any idea how to do this? No? I didn't think so.

More info
I've worked with 3d grids and blurring the image etc. What exactly do you need to know?

What exactly is a Displacement map, I can guess, but I wouldn't want to get it wrong! How is this displayed in 2D?
Is it a pseudo 3D look you want (like an Excel 3D chart) or what...
Cheers,
P.
