how do i keep my amd cool
Hey, I've got a mobile AMD 2200. I'm looking for one of these programs to keep it cool beacause, as most of you know, they run hot as hell. Thanks in advance.

There is no program that will cool your hardware.
Think about it, it's impossible unless you have some sort of water cooling setup or fan sensors that allow you to control it via a program.
What's the temp of the CPU right now?

hot. actually i dont have a prog (or just dont know) how to tell the temp.
oh, and one of my friends has something that is supposed to keep it cool by shutting down one cycle out of so many. i can't find him and ask him. :\ i'll let ya know what he's talking about when i hear from him.

Check the BIOS for the temp under PC Health (usually that's the menu) or use MBM to tell what the temperature is (doesn't work on all MotherBoards (this includes mine )).
Most likely, it's fine.

Your friend is a douche. Shutting down any "cycles" will only make your CPU slower and you won't even NOTICE the heat difference. Is there even any CPU Freq. scaling programs that arn't experimental? You probably won't get the desired results.
If you were really worried about it, you could under-clock your CPU to make it more like a 1900. It should be cooler if you do that but it gets slower.

Like I already said, it basically dumbs down the CPU.
It is just stupid to use the program since I highly doubt you'll ever have a problem.

The Intel Centrino and Pentium M does all that.
I use Microsoft Visual Basic 2005. (Therefore, most code samples I provide will be based around the .NET Framework v2.0, unless otherwise specified)

As does the mobile Athlon CPU, but we're not talking about any of those right now.....

Depending on your mobo something of them (most older ones) support some instructions that can cool your cpu by a good 10 degrees without effecting performance at all. You have to download this thing to change the registers manually and let it rechange them on startup each time. I'll try to find the link. I have used it before and a couple machines and was very surprised at the result.
WPCREDIT is the BIOS hacking tool.

I'm struggling to keep my 2100 cool. It's stuck in a small ATX case, with 4 hard drives and 2 CD devices, and the CPU temp stays at 70 degree's, and the case stays at 50.

See, it's not a performance problem or anything. It's just that when I'm working on a paper, for example, for several hours the AMD gets really hot especially when it's on my lap, ya know what i mean? It's alright, thanks for the tip.

Where are the intake vents on the laptop? On the left side?
Mine gets hot when I have it on my lap as well (its on a cel 1.1). Usually you'll notice the system will really slow down when its struggling with the heat, but if you aren't seeing any of that then don't worry about it, or put one of those tables on your lap so your groin doesn't get melted off.

hey friends... sorry to interrupt you. Mine is old K6-2 Duron 500. running at minimum 70 degree. is there anyway to cooldown it?? you guys're talking about athlon XP+. so I wanna know how's about my CPU. I'm running WindowsXP, .NET Framework 1.1, VS.NET 2003, IIS 5.5 and SQL 2000 at the same time on it. sometimes, i plays RA II. I've upgraded the cooling fan from original AMD fan to Intel Pentium 3 cooling fan. thanks in advance.
Sisyphus.
Thanks to all

well, according to some people here, is to do it physically, but installing cooling systems. others say you can use software. you can find the software here: http://www.cpuidle.de check to see if your chip is supported, and just look around. good luck.

70degrees? You mean Farenheit (sp?), which is what like 30degrees? Most prebuilt PC's will have enough cooling in them to keep the processor that was in the system cool.

you shall have to do your computing outside.
When July hits, I suggest you sit under a tree.

I used that b4 on my amd chip the k7 type but now i got xp+ and my heat is only 55tops so i dun use that program anymore
I think its call rain. And another one call waterfall... Its really effective =)
But i dunnoe if it works for XP+
