    partitioning problem

My friend has got a brand new 250 GB WD hard drive and has asked me to install it for him. I go to put his copy of Windows XP Home on it and the setup only sees 37 GB instead of 250GB. Well after looking at it awhile I decided to use Partition magic 8 Pro to make the partition 250GB after installing windows. All should be good right? Wrong, a week later he got about 36 GB used on the drive and windows got messed up and I had to reformat, so I did and about week later it happens again. Has anyone out there had this problem please shed some light.

    Thanks

Has he got an ATA 133 controller for starters? I know ATA 100 only sees about 120 GB.
I use Microsoft Visual Basic 2005. (Therefore, most code samples I provide will be based around the .NET Framework v2.0, unless otherwise specified)
