BIOS Password .

Is there any default password for the BIOS of the HP omnibook XE3 . I bought it second-hand and have no idea what's the previous password !

You have to desolder eeprom chip 24c16 and fill with zeros, then remove the cmos battery. Then resolder the eeprom back into place, and replace the battery.

Huh , I'm in trouble and need help why it's against AUP thingy . I'm not hacking others laptop , I'm trying to solve mine .

M8, you're posting on VBF... most password related searches are banned for some unknown reason!

I wouldn't recommend trying it yourself... it could potentially ruin it beyond repair.

You could just run a DOS based Bios killer... i'll try and find the one I used to use, brb

Try to find the manual for it online, there may be a simple way of resetting the CMOS.

Agreed. There is likely a dip switch in there somewhere that you have to flip.

In addition I wouldn't be surprised if it was lying just under the keyboard (ie: relatively easy to get to).

I would imagine that OEMs get a lot of support calls about this so they probably give the techs an easy way to fix it (and charge out the wazoo)

Didn't find any switch except one I thought but it's little led .

There are no dip switches on that model... it's a soft board. Thats why you have to desolder the chip, or use the software i'm still trying to find.

I think you have to replace the security chip about $100 (not installed)

Have you lost the administrator password or the user password?
Can you start up the laptop?

Yah , I can start it up . I don't know if it's the user password or the admin , the thing is I can't get into BIOS options .

If you can run a password cracker then try those first but if you cant then i guess the best method is to replace the security chip

yours is $59.50 US (not installed) or $109.50 (Installed)

Personally, I would have someone else (that i could blame

) install it(I hate working on laptops) but i would find a local vendor.

Have you tried contacting the person/company that sold you the laptop?

Also, do you really need to tweak the bios? Is it worth the $60+ US?

Yes, I called him but he said he doesn't know what the hell is the password .

Alternatively, almost all BIOS chip manufacturers install backdoor passwords. Do a web search and I’m sure you can find yours.

I couldn't find any info helps crack my BIOS password . I didn't check for BIOS crackers yet but I'll when I'm free .

Oh lol... yeah, laptops are a little more tricky when trying to get to the hardware. I do laptop repair work. Sorry.. Well maybe somewhere in the product details it says who makes the bios and what version. You could try calling customer support and see if they know. Now i understand why you havent pulled out the battery.. hehe..

customer support is a lie , online chat-support is a lie too . All companies suck when it comes to support . I checked their website , and I've been waiting , and waiting , and waiting for some help desk guy to show up and tell me even what's wrong but no body answered . It tells me send your text and there will be someone help you now . Hell , I'll support myself and go to those crack sites , and I'll find a tool .

There is no backdoor password for that Phoenix bios!

There are no jumpers on the motherboard, as I said earlier. It's not crazy crap either, it's standard procedure on those machines.

Some mobo's use softCMOS, so the vast majority if not all jumpers are removed, and the settings put in to a reduntant bios, so if it ever crashes, it just defaults back to factory settings.
