    1U Rack-Mountable Server - Shelf required?

Right. Sold a customer a rack. All well and good.
And they have a Dell PowerEdge 650 rack server.

Problem is, the server only has mounting points at the front, its a very heavy server, extends out to the back of the cabinet, and they're afraid it'll rip off the front of the rack.

    Any thoughts?

Mount a dummy bay underneath, and screw that in to place firmly!

Actually, turns out that Dell ship by default Dell rack rails, but to fit into a normal rack, you need Dell to ship "versatile" rack rails - not dell specific ones

I wonder why they bothered having rack sizes standardised *sigh*

We had to put some lengths of 8mm bar under the rear ends of our HP switches...'evvy buggers ¬.¬
