according to me and a few other people on this forum(talked to them personally)

The purpose of life is to make other people jelous of you, and wan't to live your life...

    think of this:

    You are born
you go to school to get prepared for "life"
you get a job that pays $2,000,000 a year
you get married to a celebrity
you get older, you're worth more money
you die, with 150,000,000,000 in your name

Now, what was the purpose of all of that??

the purpose was to hear people say
    "Wow, you sure are lucky"
    or
    "I wish I had that"

if you lived alone on the moon or some other place, with no people, all that would be worthless to you....
you can't happily own anything without having other people jealous of you.
it's just the way it is..

so in conclusion, the reason for living is to make other people want to be like you...

Is that all you think life is? to try to make other people jealous or to get drunk?
I can tell you my life has alot more meaning than that! My purpose comes from God. Check into it vbknight and you will find new meaning.

Well, I didn't mean the sole purpose of life....
I meant, that is "the" purpose of life...

whether you are religious or not, that is probably some part of your life...

I am religious, so I beleive that god is a very big part of life, but what i was saying, is impressing people is what all people try and wan't to do, it doesn't matter if you are religious or not...

I know there are some people that do not care what others think, and just live life to live it while they can, but those people are very rare...

    Why am i here...

..why am i here.... i am here to do what i want.. thats it.

Wether it may be getting drunk all the time.

Having sex with as many women as i wish.

    Going to work late.

    Doing Drugs.

Having sex with as many women as i wish.

Spending all of my moeny on something stupid.

Sleeping in the street (not that i would..but if i wanted to i would)

Beating someone's ass if they piss me off.

Meeting a incredible woman and have a family.

What i think life is.... is to just do what you wish and dont worry about it. ( but do use common sense, which seems to be in shortage in florida)

If i died right now..the only thing i would regret is the fact that i didnt get to do everything i wanted to.

    Later.

Well my actual theory is that the purpose in life is to maximise the amount of happiness you have over the course of your life. So that can be a lot of fun in a short life or not so much but sustained over a long life. Also means that you work (forfeit fun) now in the short term so that you can reap the rewards and have fun in later life. People give to charity and stuff like that because they feel better about themselves, thus increasing their happiness. It seems like a fairly cynical view really because it implies there's no such thing as a selfless act, but that's what I think.

Yeah, there are no selfless acts.... that was an argument on an episode of the sitcom "Friends"

joey and pheobe were arguing whether there were selfless acts...

but there really aren't, because if oyu do something good, it makes you feel good, and thats why you did it,
you didn't do the deed thinking you were gonna feel bad, if so yo wouldn't have done it.

Life...We're just here to reproduce ourselves. That's the biological way.

Basic thing I'm doing with my life is to help others and became somehow famous about it. Something like that. Hard piece to tell in English.

Basically you can do anything with your life. I think it's better to be just in peace...

    My 2 cents

I agree that the meaning of life lies in ones beliefs. Every belief hold some validity and proof based on ones experience. Based on my experience I believe we are creations of God for the sole purpose of fellowship with Him. I truely believe this.

Thumbs up The purpose of life is 42

If you type ?6*7 in your immediate window, it really answers you to the qwestion.

But the qwestion is something else, and that makes the qwestion, what is the qwestion? Hmm, if anyone have read The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy, and really enjoyed it but didn't notice the point that wasn't meant to be so obvious that nobody actually cared and just thought it was a joke, read it again, because you might get the point next time.

In fact, the fact is, that life is completely pointless subject when it comes to what we think it is. For instance 42.

I agree with myself.. of course, if I didn't I wouldn't have said it,
and I agree with honeybee and kedaman....

Don't worry about stating that it is a joke with no intent of insult. Most people on the site know that you are joking when you make comments. After all Canada is a joke right.

    kedaman's Mum

Now keddie eat all your fish and your IQ will go up to 1200, just like an Australians.

    Code:
ICQ is the short for Inside Code Quotes
That means exactly how smart you can be!

Talking Kedaman where on earth did you get that idea

Sydney is world famous for our seafood.....at least according to our promotions people. Only last night tucked into a huge feed of snapper, mussels, and salad.

Of course we don't have the European attitude of pickling everything to within an inch of it's life.

Thumbs up we are programmed to be here

The world is what we think. There is no right or wrong. But
    There is a consequence.

We have to admit that the universe is complex, far beyond
our imagination. That does not impede our effect to think
    in the most complicated way.

You can think simple and say God created everything just in
one day (or one year doesn't matter). But you fail to
answer any questions, without any deep thinking. We have to
admit that life is complicated. Close you eyes and think
about yourself, your body. You hardly know how it is
constructed and how every single piece work together to
    make you live.

Life is a self duplication of matters with energy.

I will not try to explain the origin of life here because
I have it in my mind but cannot simply put it into words
and it will be extremely long (eventually it will
    precipitate out one day somewhere).

If one day a robot on the Mars build a new robot just like
itself, they will look at each other and say "what are we
doing here?". Without further thinking, the new robot will
grab the tools and set forth to build another one.

It is programmed to be so. Mother nature (sorry not God) is
    the life programmer.

The Grovelling Spaghetti Monster agrees with koolprasad.

In my own opinion the purpose of life is to realize perfect joy. I believe that God is that perfect joy and that everyone will eventually realize their oneness with God after they go through a sufficient number of experiences.

Human life on Earth is nothing but an accident. Everything that is natural on this planet coexists and seems to have a reason for being. We seem to exist solely to ruin and break whatever grand design has been put in place.

Maybe we are nothing more than someone's science experiment. Maybe some aliens got drunk one night and partied with some prehistoric apes. 9 months later, man appeared.
